This $1.1 billion grant from the Department of Transportation funds the Chicago Transit Authority's Red Line Extension project. The project will build a 5.5-mile heavy rail extension on Chicago's Far South Side from the 95th Street terminal to 130th Street, including four new stations, parking facilities, and 78 new rail cars, providing transit access to historically underserved communities.
