This $2 billion contract funds the detailed design and construction of the first Polar Security Cutter, a new heavy icebreaker for the U.S. Coast Guard. Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding is building this vessel, which is critical to maintaining U.S. presence and operations in Arctic and Antarctic waters as polar regions become increasingly important strategically.
